The Local Lens: Restaurant Week, Revitalization, and Community Momentum

IVCBA was re-formed in 2021 as a Business AND a Community Association. This was right after COVID, with the idea was that our community needed to rebuild some of the cohesiveness we had lost during the time when public gatherings were limited. We recognized that all segments of the community needed support if we were going to thrive. With that in mind, we set up communications, events, and business programs that would connect our community and make it more vibrant. Memberships have funded IVCBA programs that serve the entire community. Today I want to touch on the 6 segments of our community that we highlight on IVCBA.org and with our magazine LIVE.WORK.PLAY. Please don’t miss any of this Lens!

BUSINESS
It’s Restaurant Week! Branch out, either go out for breakfast instead of lunch or go to restaurant you haven’t tried. My take: Big Water Grille has hired a top-notch chef that I plan to try. Incline Bak’d has a new owner, longtime local chefs Evan Roa and Chad Burns. Try their Italian beef sandwich! Rosewood is a happening place, but only for dinner. Adam took over the Jiffy Pizza spot too. Watch for a new restaurant opening there this summer. See all the Restaurant Week specials on IVCBA.org. By the way, participating restaurants are all donating to the Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. What a guilt-free way to go out to eat!


IVCBA was a sponsor of the Economic Summit put on by Tahoe Prosperity Center. Kudos to Jason Jurss, Happy Tiers owner, who spoke on the entrepreneur’s panel.

COMMUNITY
Revitalization is happening! The new beach house, updates to the bike and skateboard parks from IVGID, and of course, the Gateway Roundabout improvements! All of these programs have benefited from many generous donors. My own personal shout-out to the Sierra Giving Circle donors to Main Street Beautification throughIncline Tahoe Foundation. Here’s a trifecta to support: Learn about Liberty Dogs and Pet Network at the MOAA program tomorrow night. I bet they have some local dogs on hand…
Support our great private school Lake Tahoe School and attend the Empire Gala fundraiser this Saturday. Also, head over to Alpine Lodge for Achieve Tahoe’s Light of Achievement Gala.

ENVIRONMENT
Everyone says it’s going to be a big fire or smoke season. Thanks to the fire district and their defensible space program, Firewise, and small business Wildfire Mitigation (Steve Blaney and Wildfire Pros (Steve Conboy), we have lots of resources. Learn about them all at the Wildfire Preparedness and Mitigation seminar on Tuesday May 26, organized by local activist Kristie Wells.

ARTS AND CULTURE
We are becoming known as the center for arts and culture on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, with Classical Tahoe, Shakespeare, Tahoe Phil, and the Dance Collective. What we are really becoming famous for is the live music almost every night of the week. Check the IVCBA.org calendar. Maybe this is a stretch, but I am considering line dancing at Alibi Friday night as my culture for the week. After having pizza and beer for Restaurant Week dinner, of course!

FAMILY ADVOCACY and WELLNESS
I am combining these two segments to feature two things.

  1. Two free health clinics, thanks to Sierra Community House, Boys and Girls Club and Incline Village Community Hospital.
  2. It is mental health month…not sure if this is officially out, but I have it on good authority! Tahoe Family Solutions has plans to open a separate facility for its mental health clinic. Wow!

A Taste of Restaurant Week 2026: Participating Restaurants & Specials

RESTAURANT WEEK MENUS & SPECIALS

The 3rd Annual Incline Village Crystal Bay Restaurant Week returns May 16 through Memorial Day Weekend, bringing together local restaurants, cafés, bars, and culinary teams for a 10-day celebration of food, community, and local flavor across Incline Village and Crystal Bay.

This year’s event continues to grow, with participating venues offering special prix fixe menus, featured dishes, happy hour offerings, and exclusive Restaurant Week creations. It is a great opportunity to explore somewhere new, revisit a longtime favorite, and support local businesses during the shoulder season before summer officially kicks off.

Even better, a portion of Restaurant Week sales will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, helping support local youth and families in our community. Dining out during Restaurant Week is not only a way to support local restaurants but also a way to give back.

Here’s a look at the participating restaurants and specials announced so far. Keep checking the Restaurant Week page as more venues and menu details continue to be added.

Alibi Ale Works – Incline Public House

Alibi Ale Works is bringing together elevated comfort food and craft beer pairings with a three-course prix fixe menu. Guests can start with Chipotle Arancini before choosing between Korean Braised Short Rib or Blackened King Salmon. Dessert finishes with a Tuxedo Panna Cotta. Known for its laid-back atmosphere and local brews, Alibi’s pairing-focused menu is a great fit for a spring evening out during Restaurant Week.

Azzara’s

Azzara’s is offering a multi-course dining experience featuring a mix of classic Italian and upscale entrée selections. Guests can choose from appetizers like Carpaccio, Ravioli, or Stuffed Artichoke before moving into entrées including Filet Oscar, Halibut, Stuffed Pork Loin, or Paella. Honey Panna Cotta rounds out the experience. The menu reflects the restaurant’s warm atmosphere and longtime reputation for hearty, elevated dining in Incline Village.

Big Water Grille

Known for its lake views and creative seasonal cuisine, Big Water Grille will feature a rotating three-course Restaurant Week menu that changes daily. Specials will be posted online 24 to 48 hours in advance, encouraging guests to check back throughout the week and experience something new each visit. Restaurant Week is the perfect excuse to plan a sunset dinner overlooking Lake Tahoe while enjoying chef-driven seasonal dishes.

Crosby’s Kitchen & Cocktails

Crosby’s Kitchen & Cocktails is offering a broad Restaurant Week lineup spanning brunch, lunch, and dinner favorites. Specials include Lobster Benedict, Hash Brown Crusted Quiche Lorraine, Roasted Mary’s Herb Chicken, BBQ Brisket Platter, and Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake. The varied menu makes Crosby’s an easy choice whether guests are stopping in for breakfast, cocktails, or a full dinner outing. Plus, check out their Happy Hour specials, they are going all out for Restaurant Week!

Crystal Bay Steak & Lobster House

Crystal Bay Steak & Lobster House is serving a standout Restaurant Week special featuring Wagyu Meatloaf topped with Nordic Umami Glaze, balsamic caramelized onions, roasted garlic potatoes, and Calabrian nduja sautéed broccolini. Offered at $35, the special combines elevated steakhouse flavors with comfort food influences. Located inside Crystal Bay Casino, the restaurant remains a classic North Shore dining destination.

Cutthroat’s Saloon

Located at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, Cutthroat’s Saloon is featuring a “Burger Parade” special for Restaurant Week. Guests can choose from Angus, Wagyu, Durham Ranch Bison, or Elk burgers, served with fries, soup, or salad for $20. The menu offers a relaxed and approachable way to enjoy high-quality ingredients in a casual Tahoe setting.

Glasses Wine Bar

Glasses Wine Bar is leaning into the social side of Restaurant Week with a featured happy hour available Wednesday through Sunday from 4–6 p.m. Specials include a cheese and charcuterie board paired with a four-wine flight for $35, with additional wine flights available for $15. It is a great option for gathering with friends and enjoying a relaxed evening during Restaurant Week.

Gus’ Open Pit Barbecue

A longtime local favorite, Gus’ Open Pit Barbecue will be joining Restaurant Week with specials still to be announced. Known for classic barbecue plates, hearty portions, and a casual family-friendly atmosphere, Gus’ continues to be a staple in Incline Village dining. Guests are encouraged to keep checking the Restaurant Week page for updates and menu details as the event approaches.

Happy Tiers Bakery & Cafe

Happy Tiers Bakery & Café is bringing playful dessert creations to Restaurant Week with featured items including the Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae, Cookie Monster Sundae, and Tiramisu Affogato Sundae. Adding to the community impact, the bakery will donate 25% of net sales from these featured items directly to the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. It is a sweet way to support both local business and local youth programs.

Incline Bak’d

Incline Bak’d is keeping it simple and satisfying with a featured Meatball Sub special for Restaurant Week. Known for fresh-baked breads, sandwiches, and casual grab-and-go favorites, Incline Bak’d offers an approachable lunch stop for locals and visitors looking to explore the week’s offerings without committing to a full evening out.

Osteria Sierra

Also located at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, Osteria Sierra is offering a four-course prix fixe menu featuring Grilled Baby Artichoke, Casarecce alla Carbonara, Grilled Filet, and Tiramisu. Guests can also add a wine pairing experience. The menu highlights elevated Italian-inspired cuisine and offers one of the more refined dining experiences of Restaurant Week. Reservations are encouraged.

Sage Leaf Tahoe

Sage Leaf’s Restaurant Week prix fixe menu combines bold flavors and seasonal ingredients. Starters include Seared Scallops with coconut cream polenta and pineapple relish, while entrée choices feature Spaghetti Bolognese or Pan Seared Halibut with poblano thyme risotto and porcini beurre blanc. The menu reflects Sage Leaf’s creative and modern approach to dining on Tahoe’s North Shore.

Susie Scoops

Susie Scoops is offering family-friendly Restaurant Week specials, including BOGO 50% off treats, discounted sundaes and shakes, and free kids scoops with qualifying purchases. The specials make it easy for families to participate in Restaurant Week while enjoying ice cream, smoothies, boba, and sweet treats in a fun and casual setting.

The Grille at The Chateau

The Grille at The Chateau is featuring multiple Restaurant Week offerings, including a Pie & Pints Happy Hour with pizza and draft beers for $25. Dinner specials will rotate daily throughout the event, encouraging guests to return more than once during the week. Located on the golf course, The Grille offers a relaxed Tahoe dining atmosphere with scenic surroundings.

Tunnel Creek Cafe

Tunnel Creek Café will feature a classic Reuben sandwich special during Restaurant Week. Popular with bikers, hikers, and locals heading to or from the Flume Trail area, Tunnel Creek Café brings a casual mountain atmosphere and outdoor-adventure vibe to this year’s lineup.

Historic Speed at Incline High

Incline High School sophomore Shelby Erikson made history on April 4th at the Stanford Invitational, breaking a 41-year-old school record in the 400 meters with a time of 56.73. The previous mark of 56.90 had stood since 1985—one of the oldest records in school history.

Her performance now ranks as the second fastest in Nevada this season, currently ahead of Alyssa Dixon of Galena High School—a remarkable achievement for a sophomore competing out of a small mountain school.

Shelby’s resume is already extraordinary. She holds Incline High records in the 200m, 800m, and 1600m, plus both medley relays, and won three individual state titles as a freshman.

With regionals (May 8–9) and state (May 15–16) ahead, all eyes are on what she’ll do next.

A historic record has fallen—and Shelby Erikson is just getting started.

In The News – Local Chef Jazmine Silvestre-Stier promoted to Executive Chef for IVGID Food & Beverage Operations

The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) is thrilled to announce that Jazmine Silvestre-Stier has been promoted to the role of Executive Chef for the District’s Food & Beverage operations.

Originally from the Philippines, Chef Jazmine brings a globally inspired culinary background shaped by years of experience in destination resorts, luxury hospitality venues, golf course dining, banquet operations and ski resort kitchens throughout the United States. Her culinary journey has included positions in San Antonio, Deer Valley Resort, the San Juan Islands, Bar Harbor and North Lake Tahoe.

Silvestre-Stier joined IVGID in 2023 and quickly advanced from line cook to Sous Chef through her leadership, creativity and operational expertise.

Incline Schools: One Month to Go!

It’s hard to believe, but there’s only one month of school left in Incline—the last day is Wednesday, June 10th.

At Incline High School, the next few weeks are packed with milestone moments for the Class of 2026. The beloved  Senior Parade rolls through town on May 28, giving the community a chance to celebrate our graduates. Prom follows on May 29 at The Chateau, always a highlight of the year. The Personalized Learning Academy will host an Exhibition Night on June 3rd (stay tuned for details about that). And while school ends June 10, Graduation will take place on June 15 at 3:00 PM, on the football field.

Over at Incline Middle School, students are diving into their Fourth Quarter Exploratories, one of the most unique and engaging parts of the school experience. This quarter’s offerings include:

  • Culinary
  • Jr. Lifeguard Training
  • Leadership
  • Fiber Arts
  • Mountain Biking
  • Construction (Bird & Bat Boxes)
  • Writing
  • Kinder Reading Buddies
  • Computer Skills

These hands-on classes continue to build real-world skills while keeping students engaged and excited as the year wraps up.

In The News – Lake Tahoe’s fire restoration plan includes controversial herbicide use across thousand of acres

A yearlong investigation by Mother Jones is casting new scrutiny on the use of glyphosate in California forests at the same time the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit plans to use the controversial herbicide across thousands of acres in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Glyphosate, commonly sold under the brand name Roundup, is widely used to kill shrubs and hardwood vegetation that compete with replanted conifers after fires and logging operations.

However, the herbicide has long been controversial. In 2015, the cancer research arm of the World Health Organization classified glyphosate as a “probable carcinogen,” and manufacturer Bayer has paid more than $12 billion in settlements tied to lawsuits alleging the herbicide caused cancer.

Dancing with Daffodils Blooms Across Incline Village & Crystal Bay

Last fall, Incline Village Main Street through IVCBA launched the “Dancing with Daffodils” community beautification campaign with a simple goal: bring more color, joy, and connection to our mountain community one bulb at a time.

Through the initiative, 7,000 daffodil bulbs were donated to community members, businesses, and volunteers throughout Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Residents planted bulbs in neighborhoods, along pathways, near businesses, and throughout community spaces before winter arrived.

Now, with spring in full bloom, the results are appearing all around town.

Bright yellow daffodils are popping up across Incline Village and Crystal Bay, creating cheerful reminders of the collective effort that went into making the community more vibrant and welcoming. Community members have been sending in photos of the blooms, showcasing the many places these flowers are now thriving.

The campaign is part of the broader beautification efforts led by Incline Village Main Street and IVCBA to enhance community pride, strengthen neighborhood connections, and create welcoming spaces for both residents and visitors.

“These blooms are such a great reminder of what small community actions can grow into,” said IVCBA. “Seeing the daffodils come up throughout town after a long Tahoe winter has been incredibly rewarding.”

Thank you to everyone who participated by planting bulbs, sharing photos, and helping bring this project to life.

The good news? Dancing with Daffodils will return again this fall, with plans to distribute even more bulbs throughout the community. Community members interested in participating are encouraged to stay tuned for announcements later this year.

Please join hosts Deborah Faryniarz, Steve Emond, Tim and Carolyn Kane on Saturday, June 13 for a relaxed summer evening as we welcome another beautiful season in Lake Tahoe. Enjoy great company, meaningful conversation, and an introduction to the inspiring work of Achieve Tahoeas they continue expanding inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the Tahoe region—including their first year teaching at Mt. Rose.

Deborah Faryniarz and Steve Emond are proud supporters and active donors of Achieve Tahoe, alongside their son Luc, an Achieve Tahoe participant (pictured above). This gathering is an opportunity to connect, celebrate community, and bring awareness to this wonderful cause.

For Tim, Carolyn, and their daughter Isabella, the personal connection to Achieve Tahoe comes through Carolyn’s brother Brent, who participated in the program while growing up (pictured below). That experience left a lasting impact and continues to guide their commitment to inclusive access to the outdoors and the Tahoe community.
