Tahoe Family Solutions, the family resource center in Incline Village, has been providing therapy and mental health services at no cost to those in need. Their recent push for bilingual and culturally knowledgeable therapists is a critical step in providing care. Executive director Jody Wright and counselor Katie O’Hara spoke with the Tribune for Mental Health Awareness Month on the needs and impact that mental health services can bring to a community.
“The Tahoe Basin is a unique space, because even with a metropolitan area down the hill, it’s still considered a rural place,” said O’Hara. “There are difficulties with finding adequate services.” Incline Village has 11 therapists, with two that take insurance—the rest of them are private practices.
In 2024, Tahoe Family Solutions served 153 clients through counseling and 31 through psychiatry services. That psychiatric support is provided by Dr. Sukhi Johal, a board certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience and certifications in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. Providing coordinated care in a rural, mountain community is particularly extraordinary.

For the first time, Washoe County Regional Animal Services is offering a free dog licensing promotion from June 1 through June 13 to help get current ID tags on dogs ahead of the busy July 4th holiday.
During the promotion, eligible dog owners can receive a free 1-year dog license, and all late fees will be waived. Dogs may qualify if they have never been licensed, have an expired license, or are eligible for license renewal of their existing license within 30 days.
“The week following the Fourth of July holiday is the busiest week for animal shelters across the country. Fireworks and holiday activity can be stressful for pets, and many become lost,” said Shyanne Schull, Director Regional Animal Services. “Licensing is a simple step and can be a lifeline to help reunite lost pets with their family.”
To receive the free license, dog owners must visit Washoe County Regional Animal Services in person and provide proof of current rabies vaccination. Dogs are welcome but do not need to be present.
Promotion Details:
Dates: June 1 – June 13
Location: Washoe County Regional Animal Services
Hours: Monday – Friday 8am -5pm and Saturday 9am-3pm
Address: 2825 Longley Lane, Suite A, Reno
Phone: 775-353-8900
Requirement: In-person licensing during business hours
Bring: Proof of current rabies vaccination
The promotion is part of WCRAS’ ongoing efforts to help lost pets return home quickly and safely. A current dog license provides an additional form of identification and helps Animal Services contact owners when a lost dog is found.

In The News – Incline boys golf team ends season as state champions

The Incline High School boys golf team continued an undefeated streak at the NIAA 2A Golf State Championships on May 12 and 13, becoming state champions and adding a line to the school’s record books.
Defying windy conditions at the Toiyabe Golf Club, the Highlianders won the tournament 41 strokes ahead of North Tahoe High School for the state title.
“Our boys stayed strong,” head coach Cory Coombes said, “slowed down and played the wind well.”
Spring came early, and many of you got your flowers out early. If you are one of the sensible ones and waited, now’s the time.
Now that we are past Memorial Day, it’s officially time to start planting and be part of “Inclined to Bloom”! Hanging baskets and terra cotta pots will be installed next week.
WHERE TO LOOK NOW
(aka get out of your car and walk around!)
The Tahoe Time Plaza has ginormous hanging flower baskets, plus all of the stunning landscaping they do. You know it as the place where Chase International and Rainbow Printing are located, right on Tahoe Blvd., across from Raley’s Incline Center.
Did you know this is also the center for Dr. Hibler from the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Institute? Dr. Hibler says my skin is clear of cancer, whew!
The next time you are stopped on Tahoe Blvd. and Village, look over at the Chevron Station. They have a little patch of ground between their two drives, and Donna has already been out there planting it.
Kudos to the Rotary Club for keeping their “Peace Park” on the corner looking so good. Doug, Dave, and the guys at Chevron changed my tires and my brakes almost before we finished having lunch at Mofo’s. If you ever want to talk to me, Richard and I are there every Tuesday.
WHERE TO SHOP
If you took my advice and are out walking, take a rest in Christmas Tree Village’s Gathering Place with the red Adirondack chairs, and notice that property manager Tony Robinson, with the support of merchants, owners, and Main Street, is already tackling the next section of their easement for improvements.
Back to walking…
Stop in at High Sierra Gardens! They are the go-to shop for anyone looking for perennials, native plants, and shrubs. There’s a creek that runs through it that is just really flowing this time of year. This is such a walkable area of Incline, you could find yourself at the library!
Who knew grocery stores were becoming the new nurseries! Julie at Grocery Outlet is a great bargain finder, and she has applied those skills to plants and flowers. Check it out.
Raley’s has a great vibe going on right outside their Starbucks entrance. Grab your coffee and take a look at the great selection of annuals right next to their outdoor café seating area.
DONATE TO INCLINED TO BLOOM
You guys were so generous with the daffodil campaign, I hope you saved some $$ for pots and plants.
Steve Blaney, Main Street’s Manager, has found new places to put up baskets and planters. Watch for them at Starbucks Village Plaza and the US Bank building around the end of next week.
Please, the more you give, the more we will add to our commercial areas!
We are adding terra cotta pots at the entrances to Raley’s Incline Center and hope to cover the boardwalk railings with planter boxes.
Denise Azzara and now her kids, Andrea and Cord, have kept the geranium tradition going. Rosewood is adding some to their front sidewalk as well. Stop in at their new pizza place, where Jiffy’s used to be!
One last shout-out to Larry Wodarski at the IPM team in Village Center and Raleys. Someone has to make sure these plants are cared for, and it is often them.
Thanks to the Rotary clubs for continuing to water the pots at the bus shelters.
Thanks to IVCBA’s Main Street program and Sierra Giving Circle donors for the improvements at the roundabout. Incline Tahoe Foundation has been our fiscal partner.
Irrigation is in…shrubs and perennials coming next! Stay Tuned!

Incline Star Follies Delivers Another Unforgettable Weekend of Community, Laughter, and Celebration
May 26, 2026 | Mary Danahey
The curtain has closed on another wildly successful weekend of the Incline Star Follies, and once again, the community came together to celebrate what has become one of Incline Village’s most beloved traditions.
With packed houses and enthusiastic audiences, this year’s Follies reminded everyone why the event continues to hold such a special place in the heart of our community. From the moment the lights dimmed to the final number, the Duffield Theater was filled with laughter, applause, music, dancing, and an unmistakable sense of fun.
“The energy in the theater was absolutely incredible,” said Follies Director, Kathie Goldberg. “The crowds were joyful, engaged, and genuinely excited to be there. You could feel the connection between the performers and the audience all weekend long.”
For cast members, the Follies offers far more than an opportunity to perform. It creates friendships, memories, and a deep sense of belonging that spans generations. Many participants describe rehearsal season as one of the highlights of their year — a chance to connect with neighbors, step outside their comfort zones, and be part of something bigger than themselves.
For audiences, the Follies delivers a rare kind of entertainment: one that is personal, community-driven, and filled with hometown pride. Every performance celebrates the spirit of Incline Village and the people who make the community so special.
And for the broader community, the impact extends even further. Proceeds from the Incline Star Follies benefit the Incline Education Fund (IEF), helping support educational programs across Incline’s public schools, including STEM, arts, “exploratory learning”, mentorship, college and career readiness, and more.
The Incline Star Follies continues to prove that it is far more than a show. It is a celebration of community, connection, and shared experience — bringing people together in a way few events can.
Mark your calendars for next year’s event – scheduled to be April 30 & May 1st 2027.
Support the Celebration. Honor Our Community. Carry It Forward.

The Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration belongs to all of us — and you can help make it happen. The Be a Local Hero Family & Friends Community Sponsorshipis a meaningful way to stand behind the veterans, first responders, educators, and community builders who give so much to Incline Village and Crystal Bay. You can even dedicate your sponsorship in the name of someone special to you. A hero in your own life, a loved one, a neighbor who goes above and beyond.
Whether you join as a Tahoe Champion ($1,000), a Village Steward ($500), a Summit Supporter ($250), or a Lakeside Supporter ($100), your contribution helps bring three days of hometown celebration to life – from the parade, community fair, and pancake breakfasts. Sponsors receive commemorative t-shirts, event swag, and recognition on social media and ivcba.org, with top-tier sponsors enjoying reserved bleacher seats for the big day.
This is more than a sponsorship. It’s your name alongside the heroes of our community, honoring 250 years of American spirit right here at home.
Buy one for you – and one for the hero who deserves it.
This year, we’re inviting our community to do something a little extra: buy a 250 America Tee or Hoodie as an honor tribute for a Local Hero in your life. The firefighter on your block. The teacher who showed up for your kid. The nurse on the night shift. The neighbor who plows your driveway every time it snows. The veteran at the end of the road. The volunteer who runs the lemonade stand for the parade route – every single year.
Pre-order one in their size, write a little note, and surprise them with it before July 3 – or hand it over at the parade and watch them light up.
Pre-Sale: Lock in Your Tee + Hoodie
The Tee and Hoodie are pre-sale only – pre-ordering is the only way to guarantee your size. After the cutoff, only a small handful may be available on parade day, while supplies last.
Pickup is easy: bring your order confirmation to any of our IVCBA X TAHOE LOVE pop ups at Tahoe Family Solutions Thrift Shop starting Thursday, June 18.
