Your Small-Town 4th of July in Incline Village: Three Days, One Unforgettable Community

June 9, 2026 | Julie Malkin-Manning

The 2026 Local Heroes Celebration is three days of parades, pancakes, BBQ, and community pride – July 2–4 in Incline Village & Crystal Bay.

We’re just weeks away from one of the best weekends of the year. The 2026 Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration kicks off July 2nd and runs straight through Independence Day – three days of events designed to honor the veterans, firefighters, first responders, educators, and everyday community builders who make life in Incline Village and Crystal Bay so extraordinary.

This year carries extra meaning: as the nation marks its 250th anniversary, we’re celebrating that history right here at home. Because the spirit that built this country? It’s alive in this community, every single day.

Here’s What’s Happening

Thursday, July 2

• 4–7 PM – Incline Tahoe Foundation SummerFest at UNR Lake Tahoe. Games, music, beer tasting, and brats. A perfect opener.

• 7–9 PM – Tahoe Philharmonic: Pops & Patriotic Songs at St. Francis Catholic Church. A beautiful way to start the long weekend under the stars.

Friday, July 3

• 8–10 AM – NLTFPD Flag Raising & Pancake Breakfast at the main Firehouse on Tanager. Come fuel up before the parade!

• 10 AM – Kids’ Bike Parade (led by Diamond Peak Ski Team) rolling straight into the Local Heroes Parade. Line the streets, bring your flags, cheer loud.

• 11 AM–2 PM – Local Heroes Community Fair & BBQ at Aspen Grove. Enjoy a WCSO Meet & Greet, AYSO Socccer Skills, an expo with local organization and buinesses, and a BBQ by IVGID. This is the heart of the celebration.

• 1 PM – Susie Scoops Annual Ice Cream Eating Contest. Enough said.

Saturday, July 4

• 8 AM–12 PM – IVCB Veterans Club Pancake Breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, sausage, blueberries – plus optional mimosas and Bloody Marys. Tickets at the Rec Center or at the door.

• 12:30 PM – Free BBQ at Incline Beach, presented by the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. Hot dogs and burgers while they last! (IVGID beach pass required.)

Who’s Your Hero?

We want to hear about the people who make this community extraordinary. The neighbor who shovels driveways without being asked. The coach who shows up rain or shine. The first responder who runs toward danger so the rest of us don’t have to.

Submit your Local Hero at the link below and help us celebrate them during the July 3rd parade and fair. It takes two minutes and means the world.

Who’s Your Hero?

Honor someone. Add their name to history

America turns 250 this Fourth of July. As we celebrate right here in Incline Village, we want to honor the people who matter most –  not just the ones with titles or uniforms, but anyone who has shown up, shown kindness, or made a difference.

The grandpa who served in World War II.  The nurse who sat with a patient. The volunteer who never misses a food bank shift. Your person. Submit their name. Share a little of their story. We’ll publish it, print it, and bring it to the parade & community fair.

Parade Registration Is Open – Plus a Brand-New Contest for 2026

June 3, 2026 | Julie Malkin-Manning

Celebrating 250 years of America through our Local Heroes.

It’s official – registration is now open for the 2026 Local Heroes 4th of July Parade and the beloved Kids Bike Parade. And this year, we’re adding something brand new: awards in four categories selected by some of our VIP local heroes.

Two and a half centuries ago, America was built by everyday people with extraordinary courage. Every July, Incline Village and Crystal Bay honor that legacy right here at home – with a hometown procession of floats, fire trucks, classic cars, walking groups, youth clubs, service organizations, musical acts, and the real heroes who live and serve among us. Thursday, July 3, 2026, marks our biggest celebration yet, and we want YOU in it.

The Local Heroes 4th of July Parade is a centerpiece of a three-day celebration running July 2–4, alongside pancake breakfasts, the Community Fair, BBQs, ITF SummerFest, and a performance by the Tahoe Philharmonic. Whether you want to march, ride, roll, or cheer from the curb, there’s a place for you.

The Kids Bike Parade returns, too. The Diamond Peak Ski Team will facilitate the morning tradition that kicks off the day with streamers, spokes, helmets, and a whole lot of hometown pride. Bring the whole family and decorate a bike, wagon, trike, or scooter.

New for 2026: The Local Heroes Parade Contest

This year, float entries will be judged by a panel of local community leaders, withprizes awarded across four categories – open to schools, kids’ groups, non-profits, and businesses. It’s a fun way to celebrate the creativity, heart, and hometown spirit our paraders bring every year, and a chance to take home a little bragging right.

Categories include:

Most Creative Kids – For the most imaginative float entry from a school, youth group, or kids’ organization/business – entries that make the whole route smile.

Most Creative Non-Profit – For the community organization with the most imaginative, memorable entry.

Most Creative Business – For the local business whose float or group best captures the spirit of the day.

Most Patriotic – For the entry that makes hearts swell with red, white, and blue pride.

Awards designed and produced by Tahoe Gifting Co. — a locally crafted touch to match a locally made celebration.

Every registered float entry is automatically eligible. No separate contest form, no extra hoops – just bring your most creative, most patriotic, most joyful self to the parade route.

This year, for the first time, we will be implementing a modest registration fee for parade participants. As our event has grown, so have the costs associated with producing a first-class parade experience –  including enhanced logistics, upgraded production elements, and expanded community programming. These fees help ensure we can continue to deliver the high-quality event our community deserves.

We deeply value the support of our IVCBA members, and that is reflected in our fee structure. Fees are tiered and discounted based on your membership level –  the higher your membership tier, the greater your savings. When you log in as a registered IVCBA member to complete your parade registration, your applicable fees will be automatically calculated based on your membership status. No manual calculations needed.

Who Should Enter?

The short answer: everyone. The parade welcomes:

  • Floats, classic cars, and decorated vehicles
  • Walking groups, musical acts, and street performers
  • Schools, youth groups, and service clubs
  • Nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations
  • Veterans and military groups
  • Kids on bikes, trikes, scooters, and wagons – and yes, superhero parents too

Support the Celebration. Honor Our Community. Carry It Forward.

May 26, 2026 | Julie Malkin-Manning

The Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration belongs to all of us — and you can help make it happen. The Be a Local Hero Family & Friends Community Sponsorship is a meaningful way to stand behind the veterans, first responders, educators, and community builders who give so much to Incline Village and Crystal Bay. You can even dedicate your sponsorship in the name of someone special to you. A hero in your own life, a loved one, a neighbor who goes above and beyond.

Whether you join as a Tahoe Champion ($1,000), a Village Steward ($500), a Summit Supporter ($250), or a Lakeside Supporter ($100), your contribution helps bring three days of hometown celebration to life – from the parade, community fair, and pancake breakfasts. Sponsors receive commemorative t-shirts, event swag, and recognition on social media and ivcba.org, with top-tier sponsors enjoying reserved bleacher seats for the big day.

This is more than a sponsorship. It’s your name alongside the heroes of our community, honoring 250 years of American spirit right here at home.

Experience the Magic at the Northern Lights Holiday Celebration

December 3, 2025 | Julie Malkin-Manning

Get ready to immerse yourself in the festive spirit! The annual Northern Lights Holiday Celebration is this Saturday, December 6, from 2-5:15 PM, and it promises a day filled with joy, community, and unforgettable moments. This cherished tradition brings us all together to kick off the holiday season in the most wonderful way.

Give the Gift of Joy with Toys for Tots

One of the most meaningful parts of our celebration is the opportunity to support Toys for Tots. You can help bring a smile to a child’s face by donating a new, unused toy at the collection station.

Want to make your donation even easier? You can pre-purchase toys at Village Toys, or at the event, as they are offering a special discount for all items intended for the drive. Additionally, Susie Scoops will be donating 50% of the proceeds from kids’ ice cream scoops to purchase more toys. It’s a wonderful way to teach the joy of giving while enjoying a sweet treat.

Giving Tree Forest

At the center of it all is the Giving Tree Forest; a magical display of more than 30 trees decorated by local nonprofits, service clubs, and community groups. Each tree tells a story about the organization’s mission and how you can help; whether through a donation, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.

Guests can vote for their favorite tree!

Capture Holiday Memories

What’s a holiday event without a picture with Santa? Bring your cameras and your biggest smiles for a special photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Santa Stop. They will arrive via NLTFPD Fire Engine at 2:15PM. It’s the perfect chance to tell them your holiday wishes and create letter to Santa to place in Santa’s Mailbox, which IVGID’s elves will send to the North Pole.

You’ll also find other fantastic photo ops throughout the event. Be on the lookout for Diamond Peak’s mascot, Penguin Pete, Daisy Trails Preschool’s Gingerbread house and representatives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s office who will be joining in the festive fun.

Community Organizations

It wouldn’t be a celebration without games and crafts. Organizations from all over the region are hosting tables with interactive activities for kids and adults alike, including an elf scavenger hunt and holiday card making stations.

Free parking is available in the UNR Lake Tahoe lots. See map at https://www.ivcba.org/northern-lights-tahoe/NL-community-celebration/

Event sponsors include: IVCBA, UNR at Lake Tahoe, NLTFPD, WCSO, IVGID, Whittier Trust, and all the elves that have made UNR so festive.

Get Ready to Sparkle: The Northern Lights Community Celebration is Coming!

November 26, 2025 | Julie Malkin-Manning

The holidays are officially upon us, and there is no better way to kick off the season than by gathering with friends and neighbors for an afternoon of pure festive fun.

On Saturday, December 6, we are turning UNR’s Prim Library into a winter wonderland for the annual Northern Lights Community Celebration. From 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, get ready for a merry day of music, laughter, and that special kind of magic that only happens when our community comes together.

If you’ve been looking for the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, this is it. We are serving up wholesome holiday chaos in the best possible way, and you are invited to come play!

This year, we are pulling out all the stops with entertainment that highlights the incredible talent right here in our community.

We have the Incline Elementary Choir bringing the cute factor to an all-time high, followed by the Middle School Jazz Band delivering smooth holiday tunes. And you don’t want to miss the High School Cheer Team dialing up the energy with the very same performance they are taking to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Before show, keep your eyes peeled for Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be making their entrance on a North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District Fire Truck. Need a warm-up? The Washoe County Sheriff Department and Cpt. Cola will be on deck serving hot cocoa to keep everyone toasty. UNR will be providing hot cider and cookies, and Raley’s has donated snack size sandwiches, perfect for elves.

One of the most heartwarming parts of the celebration is our Giving Tree Forest. This year, we are featuring close to 30 holiday trees, each one decorated by a local organization to represent their mission and impact.

This isn’t just about pretty lights (though there will be plenty of those!). Each tree features opportunities for you to give back; whether through time, treasure, or talent. It is a beautiful reminder of the generosity that fuels our town.

Plus, we need your help! Community members will vote for their favorite tree (People’s Choice) and a committee will select two additional winners:

  • Most Creative & Crafty Tree (Best use of handmade/recycled materials)
  • Most On-Theme Tree (Best reflects the organization’s mission)

Make sure to cast your vote and help your favorite organization earn bragging rights for the year!

It wouldn’t be a celebration without games and crafts. Organizations from all over the region are hosting tables with interactive activities for kids and adults alike, including an elf scavenger hunt and holiday card making stations.

Here is a sneak peek at who you can meet:

  • AAUW
  • Pet Network
  • Rotary Tahoe Incline
  • Sierra Community House
  • Toys for Tots
  • BGCNLT
  • IVGID Parks & Rec
  • The Pet Network
  • Rotary InterACT
  • Incline Elementary Foundation
  • IVCBA
  • Travel North Tahoe Nevada
  • The Follies
  • Daisy Trails
  • Sustainable Tahoe, and more!

There will be plenty of photo spots to capture your holiday card memories, games to play, and crafts to make and take home.

We will wrap up the festivities with a spectacular solar-powered community tree lighting. This year’s tree was donated by the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and will shine bright as a symbol of our shared holiday spirit.

This event is proudly brought to you by IVCBA, IVGID, UNR Lake Tahoe, NLTFPD, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, and Raley’s.

So, mark your calendars, grab your mittens, and join us for an afternoon that promises to be the highlight of the season. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

October 3, 2025 | Julie Malkin-Manning

On Sunday, October 12 from 12 – 4 PM, the North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation warmly invites the entire community—including non-Jewish friends—to join in celebrating Sukkot, the Jewish festival of the fall harvest. This special event, held at the congregation in Tahoe Vista, promises a day filled with fun, food, and festivities for all ages.

Sukkot is a time-honored tradition that commemorates the fall harvest. This year’s celebration will bring the community together with live music, local beer, and seasonal activities. Dylan Eichenberg, a talented musician born and raised in Tahoma, CA, will provide live entertainment throughout the day. Guests can also enjoy refreshing brews generously provided by Incline Spirits & Cigars, while pumpkins donated by Grocery Outlet (Incline Village and Truckee) will add a festive touch to the event. To top it all off, attendees can savor a delicious homecooked brisket plate, prepared with love and tradition.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors, celebrate the season, and learn more about the rich traditions of Sukkot. The North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation looks forward to welcoming the community for a day of celebration, connection, and gratitude.
