IVGID And General Manager Consider Separation

INCLINE VILLAGE, NEVADA (JUNE 19, 2023)

Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) General Manager Indra Winquest has announced his intention to separate from the District. IVGID’s employment agreement with Mr. Winquest is set to expire on June 30, 2024.

“After much consideration, separating from the District is the right decision for myself and my family,” said Mr. Winquest. “I want to give my most heartfelt gratitude to all the residents that have voiced their support for me and the hardworking staff at IVGID.”

The IVGID Board of Trustees will consider a separation agreement at their June 23 board meeting.

Mr. Winquest has been the General Manager of IVGID since July 2020.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — There’s something special about Incline Village that brings people from all walks of life here to start something new. 

For owners of Tahoe Gifting Co., graphic designer Darya Shahvaran and veteran Matthew Rautio, the small and beautiful community seemed like the perfect place to place roots in 2020 after trying to find a place to live here for a few years. 

While it was not their intention to start a business, the idea arose after the duo put together a special thank you basket for their real estate agent, who was blown away by the incredible quality and thoughtfulness.

Incline Village Crystal Bay 4th of July SkyShow Bigger and Brighter than Before

 The 2nd Annual Incline Village Crystal Bay SkyShow to Illuminate North Lake Tahoe on July 4th with a family and environment friendly event. 

Incline Village, Nev. (June 5, 2023) – The 2nd annual 4th of July Incline Village Crystal Bay SkyShow is set to captivate the community with a dazzling display in North Lake Tahoe. As the grand finale of the Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration, this event promises to bring the community together for an unforgettable evening. 

Last year’s SkyShow, presented by the IVCB SkyShow Coalition, amazed over 5,000 spectators with the first and largest commercial drone show ever flown over Lake Tahoe. Building on its overwhelming success, this year’s event is bigger and brighter. The evening will kick off with pre-show entertainment with DJ Mark Sexton and emcee Uncle E, featuring family-friendly activities, a food and beer garden, and an enchanting laser show, followed by the highly anticipated Drone show. The revamped viewing area will provide an optimal vantage point for spectators to experience the breathtaking display of lasers and 250 drones lighting up the summer Sierra sky. 

This free and inclusive event is open to all local residents, as well as their guests and visitors to the region. It offers a unique opportunity for the entire community to celebrate together while supporting our vibrant local economy. The Annual Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration, produced by IVCBA, brings together local businesses and organizations to create a few days of joy and festivity, with the SkyShow as its grand finale. 

Introduced in 2022 as a sustainable alternative to traditional fireworks, the IVCB SkyShow ensures a safer celebration for our community. With an alarming 19,500 fires caused by fireworks in 2018, it became crucial to find a way to celebrate without jeopardizing the land and community’s safety. The SkyShow represents an important step toward reducing air pollution in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay communities. Through our united support, we can ensure a safe, sustainable, and memorable 4th of July celebration for years to come.

The Free IVCB SkyShow will take place on Tuesday, July 4, from 7 PM to 11 PM at the Ridegline Ballfields next to Incline Middle School. The laser show, produced by Summit Creative with coordinated sound by DJ Mark Sexton, will commence at approximately 9:30 PM with the finale of the evening, the Incline Village Crystal Bay SkyShow, produced by Verge Aero, beginning at approximately 9:55 PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, beach chairs, and coolers, while adhering to the “Keep Tahoe Blue” initiative by avoiding glass containers and cleaning up after themselves. Emphasizing sustainability, the community is invited to walk, bike, or utilize the provided shuttles from the Championship Golf Course and Diamond Peak parking lots. Parking will be available at designated lots such as the Travel North Tahoe Nevada Welcome Center, Parasol Community Foundation, IVGID Recreation and Tennis Center, and Incline Middle School. 

Andy Chapman, President/CEO of Travel North Tahoe Nevada, expressed his delight with last year’s SkyShow and emphasized the commitment to raise the necessary funds to continue this event with the community. He stated, “This show is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday while still protecting our land and promoting sustainable practices.” 

To ensure the event’s continued success in the coming years, additional funding is required to cover all the costs for the July 4th SkyShow. Generous partners, including Travel North Tahoe Nevada and Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, along with donors, have already pledged $111,000 collectively. SkyShow expenses include music and entertainment, the Drone and laser show, logistics, safety and security personnel, traffic control, event permits and insurance, and local advertising. 

This community-focused event supports the quality of life for residents and businesses in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay region. To ensure the continuity of this event, it is crucial to raise sufficient donations to cover the costs. With the support of donors from the public, private, individual, business, and corporate sectors, we can guarantee the future of this remarkable event.

In The News: Outside audit finds ‘error-prone’ processes and ‘confusion’ in Washoe County elections

WASHOE COUNTY: A new outside audit of Washoe County’s election process delivers tough feedback that validates the concerns of some critics and also offers detailed recommendations as a presidential election looms next year.

“Error-prone” was used six times in the final report, and “confusion” seven times when describing voter or staff experiences.

The operational review of the 2022 election process was conducted as part of a $100,000 contract with The Elections Group to inform county efforts to overhaul its voter system.

“For several election cycles now, there have been areas that we’ve needed to improve, especially with the onset of mail-in ballots,” said county spokesperson Bethany Drysdale.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino has launched a unique lakeside yoga event hosted by DJ JOOLZ and local yoga instructor, Alexandra Farrar, that will benefit a local elementary school. 

The event will be available to resort guests and local residents based on a recommended $10 donation to benefit Incline Elementary School’s “Step up for Stem” program. 

“We are thrilled to announce an incredible lakeside yoga event that will leave attendees feeling relaxed and refreshed, all while benefiting Incline Elementary School,” said Andrew De Lapp, director of operations at Hyatt. “Guests and local residents can enjoy DJ JOOLZ’s uplifting beats and positive mantras, along with Alexandra Farrar’s expert yoga instruction, for an evening of integrative wellness.”..

Alibi Barrel House for your next Event

With summer quickly approaching, the Alibi Barrel house is a fantastic event site for a unique experience with great beer on tap.

Our original taproom – the Barrel House – at our production brewery in Incline Village, is a comfortable and cozy space for people to gather and relax. With beautifully crafted indoor and outdoor spaces, it’s also a great place to book for your next private event or a private brewery tour & tasting!

Our brewers curate a draft and bottle list of their favorite beers, and there are often a few Barrel House-exclusive beers here. We offer beers by the glass, flights, and plenty of to-go options: cans, bottles, crowlers and growlers. We also serve wine, cider, and our house-brewed n/a kombucha.

We have awesome Alibi merchandise for sale, including gift cards. And although we don’t operate a kitchen, you are welcome to bring your own food or order in from one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood. We recommend T’s Mesquite Rotisserie and Inclined Burgers.

As a friendly reminder, we are a 21+ establishment. Due to Washoe County regulations, dogs are not allowed on our property, so please leave your furry friends at home.

School Updates from Incline Education Fund

Hi I’m Mary with the Incline Education Fund, a local nonprofit that support students, educators and parents here in Incline. Through our programming, advocacy and fundraising, IEF helps to ensure academic achievement and skill development across generations of Incline students. We have some exciting updates to share from each of the schools:

INCLINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

IES is hosting a Summer Kick-Off Event on June 6th from 4-6pm

This is a Summer Reading Kick-Off Assembly in conjunction with the Washoe County Library System.

INCLINE MIDDLE SCHOOL

There are two collaborative events with Incline Middle School and Lake Tahoe School this week: 

  1. Drive carefully this Friday, June 2nd as it’s BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY! There will be prizes for kids who bike to school.
  2. It’s COMMUNITY CLEAN UP DAY for 6th & 7th graders. 6th graders will be heading to Sand Harbor and 7th graders will head to Diamond Peak to collect trash as part of the community-wide TRASH to TREASURE project. 

Monday, June 5th at 5pm is the IMS OPEN HOUSE.

This event is a school showcase of all of the wonderful programs happening at IMS.  There will be a presentation at 5:30.

Parents and community members are invited to attend.

LAKE TAHOE SCHOOL

LTS Track and Field Bobcats Cap Historic Season with Three Team Titles

The Lake Tahoe School track & field team finished another highly successful track season at the Tah-Neva championships in Carson City on May 16. On a beautiful sunny afternoon, 22 different middle schools from the Tahoe Basin, Carson City, Reno, and other parts of Northern Nevada and California met to battle it out, all determined to achieve individual glory and team championship trophies.

The LTS Bobcats dominated the meet and were rewarded for their efforts by claiming three D1 team championships – 7th grade girls, 7th grade boys, and the 8th grade girls. The 7th grade boys not only won the D1 title but also were the number one school in the entire Tah-Neva League.

Aquatics Program of the Year

It is with great honor and pride to announce that the Nevada Recreation and Parks Society has recognized Incline Village Parks and Recreation’s Junior and Mini Lifeguard program as Aquatics Program of the Year. 

After three short years, this program has evolved into an important and popular camp for 5-8 year olds (Mini-Guards) and 9-15 year olds (Jr. Lifeguards). The programs focus on water safety, the development of aquatic skills, physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership skills. In addition, participants gain lifeguarding skills, learn CPR/first aid, and experience open-water swimming. “Graduating” participants ultimately will be better prepared to become certified lifeguards for Incline Village. 

This program also concentrates on training and developing our lifeguards/coaches. Pre-season training has allowed these employees to develop and enhance their leadership and organizational skills. As part of this award recognition, we would like to thank and recognize our staff for their dedication and commitment to the Junior and Mini Guard programs. 

Season #4 for Junior Guards will begin July 10, 2023, and will include a new curriculum that will challenge and enhance the camper’s skills and knowledge. When you see us at Incline Beach, Burnt Cedar, and in the water, come by and see what this award-winning program is all about.
