Dark Skies Survey – All Districts

Enjoy an evening outdoors while helping Washoe County better understand the quality of our night skies. Washoe County is looking for volunteers to take simple nighttime observations as part of a community science project that will help guide future dark skies planning. The survey will establish a baseline of existing sky darkness and inform upcoming updates to Washoe County lighting code relating to dark skies.
Participants will:Visit one assigned location in Washoe County at night between Wednesday September 9th and Sunday September 13th Measure the darkness of the night sky using simple instructions.
