The Local Lens – Clean Up, Celebrate, and Honor Our Heroes

Now that you and your neighborhood have done your part for defensible space, please come out on Saturday to clean up the Village! Every community around the Lake has a clean-up day. Ours is Saturday, June 13, this year. The Incline Library is ground zero for the day. Waste Not will have trash bags, grabbers, etc. in the library parking lot.

Your reward? Besides a clean Village, enjoy the Incline Library Summer Reading Kick-off and Block Party. Your favorite nonprofits will be there with activities for kids. Free hot dogs for everyone!

Did you know Sunday, June 14, is Flag Day? AI tells me that the flag was adopted on this day in 1777. The colors of the flag hold specific meanings: red represents valor and hardiness, white stands for purity and innocence, and blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

IHS Graduation Day is Monday! In case you are new in town, this event is well attended by the community at large in support of the great high school we have. Can you believe there are 13 valedictorians and an unbelievable number of scholarships? (Tonight is Scholarship Night!) Many are given by our local community. You will be amazed at the percentage of graduates attending top-notch universities.

Who’s your hero? IVCBA wants to know! Please go online and nominate someone. Someone who served in the armed forces, your doctor, your neighbor, a teacher, your mom or dad… tell us who you respect and admire the most.
